A Random Subsector

Jame

SOC-14 5K
Over the next couple days I shall post the worlds of a subsector I recently generated. To start:

0103 B458430-C S, GG Lianna (NB: This system must keep its gas giants.) Xx
0105 D775675-5 S, GG
0106 B98A534-A N, GG
0108 D321665-8 S, GG Janock
0110 B788632-9 GG Xx
0201 E110483-7 GG Xx
0202 C568572-7 GG Taproot Xx
0203 B562325-A S, GG
0204 C69985A-7 S, GG
0205 B8C7475-9 N, S, GG (NB: This system must keep its gas giants.)
0208 A897785-B N, S, GG Orilla (NB: This system must keep its gas giants.)

There is only one interstellar state in this subsector, although not all planets are members. There are rumors of another state to trailing. The state that controls the subsector is only recently expanding into local space after a Hiatus, and is sending out teams to discover new territory. While it has several ships of up to 20,000 tons displacement, its standard ships are 200, 400, 600, 800, 1,000, 3,000 and 5,000 tons (there are few of the last, and these are exploratory vessels).

Edits: added 0108 and prior history, and put in this mention that if any paring down of systems is to be made prior to real naming and history generation, currently-named systems may not be eliminated, and any noted gas giants must be kept.

Greetings and salutations,

What rule set are you using to generate the subsectors.

Yeah, I'm being a little anal retentive. But I can since I am the one with the PGMP-16. :)

CT. Not Book 6, but the Starter Set. I'd post more planets but I'm not up to it yet (and supper is in a few minutes, too). Afterwards, I think.

But congratulations, you get to help flesh it out a bit after I've put 'em all up and given my thoughts. That and help name planets.

0304 D544663-6 S, GG Mantowicz
0305 B626884-A GG
0306 B783884-A N, GG Arles
0308 B4717AA-B GG Hemrei
0403 E9B9633-6 S Castalia This system is Amber Zoned due to high oxygen atmospheric content. The scout base is present to enforce Zone and has a small scientific team present.
0407 A578744-B N, S, GG CP Larissa (NB: This system must keep its gas giants.)
0408 XA66673-2 GG Dijoux Amber Zone NB: This world is a preserve for food production for Larissa.
0502 D75657A-2 S, GG Racine
0503 XA78442-2 GG Nazgaol Red Zone Warning! Natives have strong xenophobic tendencies and are not ready for Human or other off-world contact. Landing is forbidden by Governmental orders and enforced by a Naval Interdiction Squadron. (NB: This system must keep its gas giant.)
0507 D8A9679-8 S, GG Savoy
0508 C335663-8 S, GG Heldensburg
0509 B644588-B N Castanse (pron. Cas-TAN-seh)

Jame,

Looks real good!

Eeensie-Weensie Quibble: Check out worlds 0403 and 0509. GDW got away with two worlds named Aramis in one subsector (LKW tells a funny stroy about it), but having two Castalias in one subsector might be a little confusing!

Have fun,
Bill

P.S. Nearly missed it! TL A huh? Will you limit jump range by TL like HG2 or go the LBB:2 route instead?

0602 C878588-8 GG XX
0604 E558449-6 GG
0605 C120110-C GG This is a small scientific group which is studying the formation of a solar system. It is chartered as such, although its charter must be renewed every seven years. It is tolerated because of its advanced Liannan technology (it was originally settled from there but has since joined with Larissa).
0702 C466A99-A S, GG
0705 B998533-A N
0706 E678300-7 GG
0707 E529000-0 GG This world is being planoformed for habitability and colonization. It will be many years yet before it is habitable, even by TL-B methods, and a small but vocal organization is putting forth a plan for domed cities as a base for colonization when it does become habitable.
0709 B52376A-B S, GG Tabitha This world has recently been conquered by Larissa's interstellar polity. It is no longer under martial law, but severe restrictions remain.
0710 X766675-2 GG Red Zone Warning! Native Humans and and other sapient life-forms display extreme psionic powers of types not previously encountered! Landing is forbidden and enforced by a Naval Interdiction Squadron.
0802 B459457-B S, GG
0803 B9B7557-B N, GG
0804 A546557-B N Maressa

Bill, it's TL-B for the class-A ports (I checked). I'm going for the HG2 limitations, so the best jump anyone can build is jump-2 (no-one listens to Lianna anyways, primarily because it isn't talking). And you're drafted into crafting a bit of history too! ;)

Jame,

Oooh! Good catch! I hadn't even thought about the TL = starport link. I was fixated on the TL = jump rating link. (Although the LLB:2 idea of being able to build jump drives at TLs lower than those you can develop them in has historical precedents.)

And you're drafted into crafting a it of history too! ;)
Oh boy! Better warm up the weary wetware...

Have fun,
Bill

Jame, very nice. I'm having fun just reading this and remebering good times rolling 'em up myself.
(Got traveller (LBB1-3) for Christmas in 1978, if I recall correctly, and literally spent 3 days rolling up a sector and making connections between worlds based on what came out...like a certain pop B world :)that popped out. And still use that sector.)

I really like 0710, very creative IMHO. Keep at it man.

0710 is meant as a magic world, where there is actual magic. Somehow the effects fade, i.e. spellcasters lose their powers, after leaving the solar system...

Aramis is just 1 of 3 set of same named worlds in Spinward Marches each with a major world and a minor world. Aramis (3110 & 2540), Inthe (2410 & 2234), & Kinorb (2202 & 2512)

Hey Jame. Do you have mapping software for this project?

I like the concept of location restricted psi/magic. Maybe there's a mineral or crystal found in large abundance in the system that amplifies psi abilities. Would there be other uses once other understand the phenomena? There's parties that want to exploit while others want to restrict.

Nope. I gotta use hardware, namely pen, paper and dice (2d6 or 1d12). And I don't know of any software for it; keep in mind that this is what I do when I watch TV.

My thought was to have some sort of wierd science phenomenon to allow for some sort of D&D thing, because within the planet-moon(s?) system it's strong, but get out past a few hundred diameters and it fades. Perhaps it often (not always, but often) imparts some sort of psi, and/or infuses with certain crystals that give weak-moderate psi/magic?

If you want to make a write-up of it, go right ahead...

Andy! Fritz! NAME PLANETS!
What kind of names are you looking for, Jame?

-Flynn
</font>[/QUOTE]Names that put names and places together, Flynn!

-You're in for it too.

Try the following. They are all Greek philosophers, but given a common Terran background, perhaps these names might come in handy:

Xenophanes
Parmenides
Leucippus
Democritus
Protagoras
Empedocles
Socrates
Plato
Aristotle
Cicero
Zeno
Epictetus
Epicurus
Lucretius
Plotinus
Porphyry
Proclus
Iamblichus
Aurelius
Thales
Pythagoras
Anaximenes
Anaxagoras
Hippocrates
Diogenes
Euclid
Chrysippus
Eratosthenes
Claudius
Ptolemy
Augustine
Hypatia
DIadochus
Boethius

Hope this helps,
Flynn

"Thales." Oh yeah, him!

Pick a planet and name it that, and use Socrates, Plato and two others excepting Democritus (sounds too much like democracy) and name planets with them (not 0410, that's for George Boyett now).
