a curious UWP

Just because TL-7 is the local ability to produce something doesn't mean that the Daddy Larson doesn't have a suit of BattleDress with an FGMP-15 attached hiding in the back. You know, mustering out benefit when he was an Imperial Marine (honest...).

9 people may not seem like a lot, but given the right 9 people, it could be tough. Consider 9 Rambo's who just want to be left alone and DON'T allow weapons on THEIR world...

Yes, and now imagine a small (well-armed) adventuring crew lands there for a quick gas and steak on the way to a rebellion somewhere. They instantly move the Pop to a 1, thump the uppity locals (but good), and have to figure out who to leave behind to take care of their steaks.... :smirk:

And what happens if an Aslan lands there?

"I claim this land and these animals in the name of my clan! You 9 can have that little building over there."

:)

RE: Predators.
The cattle run free on a world with absolutely no native animal life (no predators or cow diseases) and native plants that are edible to cattle. The cattle were introduced to this “cow Eden” and the 100,000 robots cull the herd and process the meat as the only population control.

RE: Population.
The Larson Clan has a long tradition in public service, with 9 members living dirtside and 30 members in active service with the Sector Navy, employed in the Sector Bureaucracy or living on the sub-sector capital. So the population UPP does increase for Thanksgiving.

RE: Security.
Larson Downport is not without some defense. A pair of triple missile launchers fitted with TL7 missiles are mounted at opposite corners of the homestead/starport. Although the robotics and general automation are TL 7 and locally produced, the Larsons were able to acquire an outdated (70 year old-TL 13) but fully functioning 100 dTon weapon bay from a warship scheduled to be scrapped. This was courtesy of Uncle Cliff (Admin-3, Streetwise-2) the Civilian Liaison to the Director of Naval Repairs for the Sub-sector Navy. It was installed by Navy technicians to military standards and is fully operational. Maintenance is performed by the Navy during regular visits to restock fleet rations. Cousin Roger (Commander) serves on the Admiral’s staff and the Admiral personally looks forward to the Larsons Thanksgiving Barbeque. Every year the fleet “just happens” to be in orbit to restock food rations that entire week. What are the odds, huh?

Personal experience has shown me that most people with wealth are generally able to protect their wealth. Use your imagination, but I prefer buried Meson Guns.

Aslan: Here kitty, kitty. Poof.

I always treated world like that as dead worlds, or worlds with a non-intelligent life population. One interpretation could be a pristine world with a wrecked ship carcass with some fuel in it (unpurified of course lol), or maybe a failed pre-stellar colony remnants. If a dead world i find it useful to geuss (reroll) what the population used to be. T4/marc miller's traveller pocket empires supplement has a table for colonization dates and cause of dead worlds from the long night. Also the wafare rules allow temporary tainting (aka death of lots) of the atmnosphere from nukes.
My take on it due to the hydro being under Ag world classification would be a world isolated during the long night that fell to below TL9 interstellar, had a "civilized" government that attempted to maintain things (gov 5, and TLA ~peaceful, lotsa unarmed types no?), which suffered desertification causing failure of the food base and collapse of society. Lotsa TL7 road/city ruin wreckage maybe. Alternate arguement could be it's a nobles holding somehow, and theres a ship in the system, TL7 so non-jump capable, which serves as the "authority" for it. Or maybe there are rabid squirrels that ate evryone lol who knows. I'd be tempted to make it an amber/red zone somehow, as it appears to be quite a fine place to live, especially compared to say C53258A-9.

Robot controled.

Does not mean AI.

I can't remember all the different stories that I have read where the people who created the robots/computers help them run the world where programed to literally and ended up killing every one whom disagreed or refused to live the correct way.

Killing could be out right, left in jail to rot, forced to live under drugs (which killed the will to live) or denied the basics of life since the robots control all parts of life.

The Scouts either did nothing to invoke the robots to treat them like the former population or did not actually land or the rules/laws treated them like vistors and do not take effect until they actually live/move there.

Just some fun thoughts on the question.
