2D6 or (x)D6?

I've read mention in other threads about "dice pools" and rolling multiple D6's ("fist-full-of-dice" method?), but I'm a bit confused. I've read the 3-page PDF from FFE and there is no mention of what method is used for task rolls. They do mention the Flux system, but my impression is that is more specifically a DM rule rather than a task resolution mechanic. I've also read the RTT play test document, and that uses a 2D6 mechanic. Since RTT and T5 are supposed to be related, does this mean T5 will use this method as well?

Does anyone know what the task determination method will truly be for T5?

Last draft of T5 tasks used a variable number of d6's versus Stat+Skill. The number was based pon difficulty:
Simple 1
Routine 2
Average 3
Difficult 4
Formidable 5
Staggering 6
Impossible 7

With a caveat that if the base dice are not equalled by skill level, add one die.

Note: I may have the labels wrong.

So, unless Marc had a major change of heart (which Robject likely would have told us, since for many, it's THE major element), they are unlikely t use the same task system.

Mongoose is a 2d6 Roll High system.

Yuck.

This might be a deal-breaker for me. I can handle a great deal of detail in the behind-the-scenes mechanics, but when the complexity of the task resolution system increases, the flow of the game slows down. I like CT's 2D6 system. It's quick and dirty.

Just make all tasks routine until you can insert an OGL task system. The old 2D6 roll high has a lot of fans.

I may just have to do that. Does it look like the rest of the system will adapt well to a 2D6-roll-high mechanism? Would there possibly be any plans to make this type of system an option (hint)?

Otherwise, I really like what I've seen of T5 thus far!

Unfortunately the last draft alsu used (as the target) attribute + skill level, which would make "routine" tasks auto-successful for a lot of characters

In other words, you'd have to just use Mongoose or MT's task system, scaling anything that is used as a DM.
