20th/21st Century Brush Wars for IW

Stealing from a blog idea that got posted this weekend, one could run a Interstellar Wars Campaign with all the Brush Wars of the 20th century as their template. Culminating with the final offensive on Vland being 1991 and the demise of the USSR. Naturally, I have some sympathy who say the 20th century has only ended chronologically so one could carry the concept to the present day. What do others think?

No reason not to. I assume this would be between Numbered wars.

Even the numbered wars could still be the big battles of the 20th century fought on many fronts. Some even called Gulf War 1 - World War 3 because of how Bush was able to convince the USSR to support him. Vietnam has a longer conflict than just the American War...but goes back to the 1940s. Playing each facet somewhat differently on different worlds could be very interesting.

Somehow, the imagery of Apocalypse Now with helicopter gunships flying overhead alien worlds has a certain appeal to me. Along with a lot of the grunt stories of Vietnam era making it perfect for IW.
