1 Week Before Release

As a pre-orderer, I haven't received any new e-mails and the last projected date (according to an almost month old e-mail from MM) is coming up. I'm hoping that is a good sign. :)

Pessimist. Have you no faith man?

the far future web page as of this morning still indicates a March 31 deadline. But...the June date may be more realistic (the CT & JTAS CDs were what, 3 months late from the original posted release date? I can't recall).

But it WILL show up. Of that, I'm full of faith!

1/31

I think it was bumped from 1/31 to march 31st originally? I don't remember. Ithink it was bumped up twice. End of Feb then to March 31st.

So that's two months. so I hope it happens...if it doesn't happen I'll give my pre-"uhg" groans.

Anyone wnat to take one from the team and ask Farfuture. I did twice already. 3rd time I'm out!

The kids these days. Always wanting more more more :D

Considering the only rules system I have on my shelf today is T4, I'm very interested in getting my T5 cd.

T4? Wow. Its truly a wonder you aren't foaming at the mouth from the wait!

Well, yeah. And the best part of having T4 as my basis for comparison is that T5 is almost guaranteed to rock my world. Even if it has everybody else complaining.

I'm exaggerating a bit though... I have some old MT mainbooks somewhere in the recesses of my collection. But I haven't looked at them in ages.

I sure hope so, but I'm growing more sanguine. I could barely wait from 1/1 to 1/31, and now, well, March is zipping by. Sigh. I hope the final product is all we hope it is.

I will be out of town for training from April 1st - 3rd. This is a good sign that T5 will arrive around the 1st since I'm usually the last person to get anything when it comes to luck. :) It may already be 4 days old when I finally get to open up my CD case!

hmm...I will have my laptop, perhaps my wife can open it up and send me a pdf or two for browsing in the hotel at night. ;) Of course that may lead to questions from my co-workers on the same trip - "I saw the sergeant looking at some document on his laptop with wierd pictures of starships, robots, and wolf-men. What's up with him?"

Ah yes. We gamers must hide our geeky pursuits in dark corners. It's great to know so many military-type guys are into Traveller. Before I came to CotI, I would have thought the military was more for those guys who used to beat me up in high school for playing RPGs.

I meant police sergeant, not military, but once was an Army sergeant also. I actually encountered quite a few RPG players while I was in the US military. I saw or was part of D&D, 2300AD, Star Wars, and T-2000 campaigns while in the Army. I think the combat simulation elements were of course the most popular! Perhaps I need a police/swat rpg to introduce some of my co-workers to gaming? :) Or perhaps not. Action in the military was rare, so there was a desire to game it. I think a typical cop would be bored of a game version of what they do for real at work, unless they work in Mayberry. :)

Sorry if I sent this thread on a tangent...return to the possible countdown to T5!

It's funny how there's two distinct camps waiting for new traveller products. There's plenty of overlap for sure, but it seems to me like there are those who are waiting eagrely to have a glossy dead-tree mongtrav in their hands, replete with nice, attractive art -- and then there are those who want the MWM sprawling, avowedly play-test version, 1000+ page CD.

Myself, I'm having a hard time getting excited by the mongtrav release, meanwhile I'm rubbing my hands together for this CD. Am I crazy?

I count it as three camps actually. Naturally so since all love triangles have three points. The one you're missing is the camp, very much overlapped, that ran hither an thither tween RTT and T5 hoping for some affection. And after a quick dalliance with each and both found them lacking something returned to wait by themselves for a new Traveller love that could be their true one until death...

...or something like that :file_22:

And yes, you're crazy, I'm crazy, we're all crazy :D

Well, then, let me invite you to the fourth camp ... :)

It is inhabited by those people - like me - who will take whatever Traveller
edition comes along, knowing that each of them will have a couple of most
useful ideas to add to their own MTUs or non-TUs.

No edition will ever be "perfect", but all of them have something interesting
to offer, and unless someone needs a "canon" to guide him, each edition
can be used to add something to one's favourite setting.

Even non-Traveller systems and sourcebooks can be surprisingly useful ...

Thank you kindly :D

Though I was speaking more generally for some and not specifically for myself. I travel to all the camps, trade stuff, you know, like you said ;) Even the old camps and the strange ones.

I had hoped to find more in the latest camps but they weren't wasted trips. I'll probably revisit them maybe even buy into them a bit.
