The comment about "tight" vs "wide" binaries is interesting. Anyone have a good idea what the ratio is between the two types?

I guess its hard to specify a ratio.
Perhaps its more some kind of continous but somehow weighted distribution ....

Just under 25% of the binary stars are tight and the other 75% are wide.

The best way to draw out the "experts" is to post a 'fact' and wait for the science sharks to circle.
