What Rules do you use with M0

I am just wondering what rules do you use with Milieu Zero. At the moment I am using T20 rules and have redesigned ships/etc to suit using the design rules in the THB. I have just been looking through my T4 rule book and supplements that I have not used for at least two years and am wondering does anyone still use the T4 rules not just for M0 but for any other background setting.

Please post and let me know.

I quite like lots of things in the T4 rules, e.g. character generation, psionics, combat system/armour rules, computer ratings.

The milieu zero setting's not bad either, but I've never run it.

How did you get on with redesigning ships to T20? Are there any particular problems?

But, I've got to say, the task system's not for me - give me the MT/DGP one every time ;)

My own hybrid system based many on MegaTraveller but preserving the CT Combat system (although, I thinking of converting to At Close Quarters) whilst using the CT/MT Psionic System.

Starship construction never really entered into my campaigns - it is only a means of getting from Point A to Point B plus, no system would design the monster Starships that I believe would be left over from the Rule of Man (I take my inspiration from the artwork of Chris Foss).
Therefore, even the modern (read: Regency) Starships would be migets beside these suckers. And, that is one of the reasons, I give for the rise of the Third Imperium - the ability to mass produce smaller and more efficient Starships when everyone else is practically relying upon old technology before the fall of the Night.

Surprisingly well, the T20 system is over all very similar to Mt and its High Guard predescessor.

There were some ships that couldn't be converted fully, the Military frontier cruiser being one of them. due to its two huge particle accelerators mounted on top of it, so I replaced them with a 100 ton bay, which worked out well.

I've always found the 1 hardpoint per 100 tons of ship rule of High guard and its successors to be a bit artificial, and for me one of the few good things about the TNE design rules was that you could cram as much weaponry into a hull as desired (if you could fit it in), giving rise to 100 ton designs with 4 laser turrets etc.

The results of my conversions are about to be published on the soon to be updated (nov 1st) Pocket Empires web site. (In the Drax shipyard section, so watch out for that!) ;)

Excellent Idea, though to be honest I've never really associated much of Chris Foss's artwork with traveller, having seen all of those pictures many years before on 1970's pulp sci-fi books. That's not to say that some of Marc Millers inspiration or indeed any other traveller fan hasn't been influenced by them. The art in itself is excellent, breathtaking in scale, though badly positioned about the various T4 products I think, so much so that they are not given their full justice.

I think the ships look sufficiently alien enough to be explained away as Villani builds, this is a line I take when explaining the weird styling of the ship's illustrated in the T4 rulebook and the Starships book, and that later models have more of a solomani influence in their design philosophy (compare the T4 Safari ship illustration to the Classic Traveller Type K)

Agreed, the Vilani certainly contributed to the very bulky look of M:0 starships. But, I have always viewed the Rule of Man as the decadent feeders off a plutocracy where Big was always Better. Hence the enormous automated Starships meant to last a thousand years.

Sadly, for the Pocket Empires they were for most part salvaged and scavanged for spare parts as one approaches midnight till only a fraction of what the smallest cruiser becomes a mere shadow of its former self.

This is not to say that there might not be an odd derelict waiting on the outer edges of the frontier just waiting for some enterprising (read: foolish) StarMerc to haul in for the Prize Bounty.

But, many dreadnaught has just become an orbital battlestation as the means (read: supplies) and the knowledge to keep the ship Jump capable disappear.

I have M0, but have never played it. I would use T20 as that is my favourite system at the moment (and the one with the most potential local players).

The only rules I use from T4 are the Psionics rules. IMNSHO, they are the best set of psionics rules EVER. I don't use M0; my one foray was resulting in the attitude "They didn't sensibly change the setting data enough to match the setting text".

Worked alright for CT.
