Vehicle combat

Murdoc

SOC-12
Ok, I'm trying to figure out vehicle combat after a long time from having read it, and so far all I'm finding is the bit in the PM, p97 that says that the rules for VC are covered in the RM, but I'm not finding it there. Can someone point me in the right direction?

The charts made it into the PM, on page 74.

There are the vehicular combat weapons tables on PM page 80, and in the Craft Design rules.

The rest wound up in COACC and the Referee's Companion.

Ah I see. I thought that perhaps there might be other rules somewhere, and that was what they were referring to. Liars! :p
(Thanks!)

I suspect what happened was a submission of two books at about 200pp each, and GDW breaking it into 4 books...

In any case, see that the vehicle/smallcraft rules seem to blurr at some point. The fighter epicted in IE (page 80) should clearly be a vehicle, and be treated as such, as it is under 20 dton, his drives must be vehicular grav plates (as the MD are only allowed for 20 dton or larger crafts) and its laser may not be a starship one (as the fighter has a 186 Mw rated PP, while a space rated laser needs 250).

Even so, tarings are given as if it was a small craft (even its laser battery, that, according to One Small Step, in HT and Challenge, should be rated as X), and I guess it's thought to fight with space combat rules.

I guess it's a broken design (as too many in MT).
