Twilight 2142

Horatius

SOC-12
Just a random thought. WHat about adapting the Battlefield 2142 fps game into a T2k setting? An ice age is gripping the planet; advanced technology intitally created the War walkers, hover tanks high tech weaponry and the other wonders of the game. Nations are fighting over the arable land nearer the equator, battles are fought in frozen cities, some of which have been abandoned; some of which are populated by squatters. Any still functioning factory capable of producing the hi-tech ammo and parts to keep the war machine running is worth its weight in gold and gasoline combined.

New political states have emerged as parts of teh world become uninhabitable. The US has been replaced by the North American Union, THe EC rules everything east of the Urals, The New Holy Russian Empire rules from the eastern Medeterranean to the pacific. China is annexing the radioactive rubble that was india and pakistan. The Brazilian Commonwealth and the NAU are fighting over the remains of central america. And then there's Africa...

What are your opinions?

Quite interesting actually...not quite 'post-holocaust' but close.

I love the abandoned cities aspect and the idea of expeditions to scavenge equipment and supplies from them.

Yes!

As do I. I've often toyed with the idea of an RPG set in the war-torn, apocolyptic future - as portrayed, for example, in the Terminator films. I've never actually looked into any existing RPGs that may support this, but the Twilight: 2142 idea is bang on!

Glad someone likes it.
One aspect that I like is the idea of starting with the high tech weapons from the game (the super SAWs, machine guns and shotguns, the EMP grenades and nanite-based medkits and as the campaign progresses, winding down to AK-series weapons and the like.

Or the idea of a 'Nail Mission'. SEnding the PCs into china or russia to recover a circuit board necessary to keep a powerplant working, or to copy a piece of software from an old canadian factory that currently under the snow pak.

But now the machanics question: WHat woult the t2k stats be for some of the weapons and armor? Or the vehicles? THe Jeeps are pretty straightforward, but the hovertanks and war walkers? And what about the weapons?

The Saw could be anything from a cosmeticaly upgraded SAW to a 5.56mm (or smaller) 6-barreled gatling gun (M-214, the one governor Jessie used in Predator)

The idea is great. I started preparing something similar after I bought the T2K-2nd Edition (with a comet throwing earth into a new ice-age, just like mentioned in the T2K-reader survey at the end of this editions rulebook). Sadly, the campaign never worked due to busy players.

The stats for the weapons could be easily taken over from TNE or newly built using the Fire, Fusion & Steel book, as it is the same rules.

Or use the weapons with some adjustment from T20 and T20's vehicle design rules :file_22:
