Traveller's Aide #4?

hunter

Ancient - Absent Friend
TA4 - 76 Gunmen is now available. I actually shouldn't have posted it yet due to two problems with it, but given the delay over the past few months on getting the TA line moving again I figured I'd get it up warts and all. The two problems I refer to are really non-critical for use, the cover is currently only B/W and the print version has "On the Ground" as the page headers when it should say "76 Gunmen". I should have corrected copies in place by the first of next week, but it is quite usable as it stands. Don't worry, you will be able to download the updated copies from the eLibrary when they are ready.

Speaking of the eLibrary accounts, I added a lost password feature but you must make sure you keep your account email address up to date.

Enjoy!

Hunter
It currently on has a B/W cover, and in the print edition it will say

Hello:

This is more or less just a placeholder for discussion about TA#4.

My question for now: what is an updated schedule for it? Next week...the week after?

Please keep up the super work!

Thanks!
Dan

Hi Hunter,

I dunno if it is just me, but when I log into my subscription TA 4 doesn't appear in the availible to download section, only 1 through 3.

Shane

Look at the posting times of dancha and Hunter.

We are not worthy PSI master!!! Precognition skill exemplified and all for better customer service. How can this product not succeed when the owners know your thoughts before you do?

Oh, and thanks for keeping the pipeline full of Traveller goodness.

My apologies Shane, I forgot to add it to the eLibrary itself in my late night haste. It should be showing up now.

Hi Hunter,

Just another problem for you - I downloaded both the print and screen versions of TA4 and it has now got it listed twice (complete with thumbnail pics) in my "already taken"... Wierd...

Did it charge you two issues against your account or just one?

Honestly, I don't know (don't *think* so).... I'm not sure how many issues I had on the account. Don't worry too much about that, I was just reporting a possible software bug. I'll remember next time I download a new TA to double check if I'm getting double charges.

Sorry to complicate your life!

Glad to see this -- I'll have to correct the review I submitted to JTAS...

</font>[/QUOTE]When that happened to me I was charged two issues. Ditto for a couple of other folks. Sounds like the same software bug...

Ok, I'll take a look at the code tonight and figure out what the heck is going on.

Hunter

One possibility is that (and I dunno about anybody else) I clicked on the "screen version", then hit "download", then the "print version" and hit "download" (so they both DLed at once) - I didn't refresh for it to appear in "already downloaded" list and click "download again" - could be user error on this one.

Hey there:

That is the exact sequence that I used as well (I was charged twice). I would argue that it is not "user error;" rather, the code should support this scenario. If not, then the page should explain what the preferred/expected sequence of actions is.

(Obviously, this is merely a suggestion for Hunter et al.)

Thanks!

Ah thanks! That is the answer I was looking for. I would call it a system error. I should have it reload the page after the download to reflect the changes. Will take care of that tonight.

Hunter

The double issue problem should be fixed now. The screen still doesn't refresh (working on that) but the system now double checks to see if you have previously downloaded an issues before it charges you for taking a new one.

Hey Hunter:

Thanks so much for your continued prompt attention.

My latest question: right now in Seattle, WA, USA it's 9PM on Tuesday Feb 4th.

Are the TA#4 files in the eLibrary the new, improved versions, with the color cover, and correct header?

(I expect the answer is yes, but just thought I'd get an official answer <g>)

Thanks!

They are actually, but somehow the print version ended up with the wrong header again. I should have the one reposted tomorrow. The screen version is fine.

I know this is probably only my computer, but twice now (TA #1 and #4) when I buy the product and start to download my computer reboots. So here I am fuming at a computer with no TA's.

How do I get TA #4 ( a friend gave me their copy of TA #1)?

BTW, some TA4 errata:

The Veteran and Elite Naval personnel still show (navy 6) for their class levels, even though the skills look like the rest of the stat block has been updated. I didn't notice any others right off the bat, though I really wasn't looking at them as much as I was focusing on my more immediate need. ;)

Hope this helps,
Flynn

That's wierd. No error messages or anything, it just reboots automatically? I honestly don't think it is on this end. Haven't heard anyone mention anything like this before.

How far does it get downloading before it happens? Is it the same place every time?
