T5 System Star Generation

Shikage

SOC-5
Perhaps I am missing something, or this has been brought up and I am failing to find the right search terms to find it.. but it seems to me there are some errors in the numbering of charts 1 and 2 on page 412 of the T 5.09 book.

My understanding is that flux will provide a number between -5 and +5 yet table 1 only lists -4 to +5.. should there just be another line identical to the -4 line for -5? Or should there be an additional line that produces either a close, near, far, or companion star result? Or am I misunderstanding the spread produced by flux?

Similarly, table 2 is references a roll produced in one of two ways. Either a flux roll which can be -5 to +5, or the flux roll + (1D-1) which can produce a result from -5 to +10 yet the table lists values between -6 and +8. This would mean that -6 is simply unobtainable and even if you shift the values up one you get from -5 to +9 which means there's again one potential result missing. Am I again missing something in how these rolls work?

I'm pretty sure for Table 1 the -5 result reads the same as the -4 result.

I think your analysis of Table 2 is correct - the -6 result is never obtainable; but I do recall reading somewhere in these forums that these tables occasionally have extended values to allow for global mods applied, e.g. when generating sectors (e.g. a sector more coreword might get a -1 Mod on this table, allowing O and B stars to be randomly generated).

That sounds reasonable, but then for the spectral type and size table, what do you fill in the 2 missing lines with? Alternately, if you use flux + 1D-2 that would fit to the table quite effectively.. though it provides less variance between the additional stars in a system and the primary.
