T4 Tech Levels

do T4 tech levels correspond closely with those of CT ?

I'm mostly a GURPS Traveller fan, but I'd like to convert T4 items to GURPS (like the Multiscanner) since I think it's missing from both GT and GT:First In.

CT, MT, TNE, T4, T20, and what we've seen of T5 all have pretty much the same TL paradigm.

GT conversion should be the same for all of them, but note that there may be a couple minor discrepancies, due to FF&S, with TNE and T4 versus MT-HT and CT.

EG: HG (CT-Bk5 and T20) allows continuous thrust drives at TL7; real world equivalents (Ion-Plasma drives) are about 2 orders of magnitude larger for TL 7-8...
MT-HT has Ion drives, still an order of magnitude better than current, as does TNE, and for that matter, T4, but neither allows the T-plates until TL9, unlike HG.

What little has been seen of T5 indicates the same TL 9 for continuous thrust drives.

If you convert some, please post the stats.

Thanks!

Spinward Scout

Well, I've got GURPS Vehicle Builder and I'll see if I can give the Rolen Politesse a shot this week.

Also maybe one of the T4 Companion androids.

I forgot GURPS Ultra Tech already has Multi-scanners, so I won't bother.

I don't remember any companion androids in T4, can anybody shed light on these, or can I guess that these high tech novelties are used for sexual gratification....

They're under the robots on p47 of the Central Supply Catalog, they're anthropomorphic and
designed to look realistic. They're detectable as bots though, so I assume they're like
Ash from Alien, except a bit more obvious.

They're controlled by a "central computer" which gives them the ability to mimic human
behavior (or another sophont species if you wish). I assume this "central computer" means
it's limited to keeping in range of it, but I get around this by having meson comms
installed in ones for the Scouts or for the rich, such that they can move around a planet,
in most instances.

I use GURPS Robots to really "flesh them out".
