Welcome to the new COTI server. We've moved the Citizens to a new server. Please let us know in the COTI Website issue forum if you find any problems.
We, the systems administration staff, apologize for this unexpected outage of the boards. We have resolved the root cause of the problem and there should be no further disruptions.
So folks looking for a revamp of the T2K timeline can now use a resurgent Russian Federation and the Crimea/Ukraine situation as a fictional starting point. Without getting into real-world politics, how does this change the theater of the war and the players (nations)?
Seems that a few prior Warsaw Pact countries are now NATO aligned but still kicking around with their old weaponry - makes it not-so-easy for identifying friend or foe when facing down that BTR that suddenly pops up in the road in front of you. Lots of blue on blue mishaps, I'd wager.
Another difference between new T2K and old T2K is the whole insurgency undercurrent that exists in and around the Russian areas (and I'm generalizing a whole helluva lot here). I don't recall that sort of thing being a "deal," in the old materials but my memory is also fuzzy too. Makes things interesting when its not only "us," versus "them," but now its also, "versus those guys too, sometimes if they aren't shooting up "them."
p.s. And damned if this ain't making me all nostalgic for the game too; $35 plus shipping and handling looks to be soon-to-be-missing from my checking account!
