Stuff Burns Differently In Space

Thanks aramis - your description is right on the money.

The experiments referenced certainly help to qualify how differently and Ferkul's ressearch yields potentially useful information that may help in procedures for dealing with fires.

However, I feel compelled to rant - the article's title and side quote are, quite typically, sensationalist crap - blatantly and/or ignorantly substituting 'fireproof' for 'fire-resistant' and 'flame-retardant'. :nonono:

Very interesting. The same fundamental principles apply, though - fuel, oxidizer, heat are required. Probably only way to put one out in space with our current TL is to smother it by filling the space with an inert gas or by turning it to vacuum.
