Ship Computers and programs

SOC-12
Am I missing something - I thought for sure MT had starship computers using programs like Evade, Predict, et al., but I can't find rules for that in the books. I'm just letting memories of other version bleed into MT or are there rules for such programs in starship computers somewhere?

Thanks!

MT does not. Nor do TNE, T4, nor T20*.

CT does, but only for Bk2. MGT does, as well.

I can't speak to GT.

Hero System Traveller is using Hero System Computer Rules mated to predesigneds of the Traveller models.

Just browsing old threads, hope no-one minds a reply to an old question. The MT rules don't have computer programmes as such, but the computer model numbers themselves provide DMs for various tasks in MT Starship combat.

I think the result is a neat abstraction of the function of computers in combat. Of course, this kind of degrades the value of Computer skill - i.e. it's a background general expertise skill rather than something highly valued by adventurers in combat or needing to get from system to system as cheaply as possible.

The MT computer rules simply assume software is part of the picture of the price of the computer. That much better matches the modern day evolution of software - e.g. these days open source software provides major components (e.g. this very forum is in PHP - an open source server side scripting language!).

Built into craft design is minimum requirements for computers to be able to run things for vehicles.

Shuffling programmes in and out of active computer memory was kind of fun as a combat phase, but when you want to introduce the sheer range of offensive and defensive systems in MT you have to compromise on some details to keep things fun.
