References, Sources, Citations & the Wiki...

The Wiki is in the midst of many updates... One of the big ones is the gradual updating of references, sources, and citations...

Two primary templates are used:

Template:Ludography cite
External Link: [http://wiki.travellerrpg.com/Template:Ludography_cite ]
## name = Name of the book. While some pages for the book include the Traveller version (e.g. "T4" or "GURPS Traveller:", the name used here generally omits them.
## page = Page (e.g. 15) or range of pages (1-4) which is being cited.
## article = Title of article in magazine. (optional)

Template:Sources
External Link: [http://wiki.travellerrpg.com/Template:Sources]
## Provides the same data but in less of form fill and requires more typing

So, my question to you is this:

*** What are you looking for from a citation? What is most useful to you? How do we make it most accessible? Should it be like an academic citation, such as Chicago Style or MLA? Another format? ***

Thanks for any feedback ahead of time.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

What a cite should include is the version of Traveller being used, the title of the book or article, and pages. If the sources is a weblink, then somewhere it must be clearly shown what version of Traveller is being used.

This is not quite correct. The Sources template is required because it supplies the blue box, the header text and simply formats a list of sources what ever format is supplied.

The Ludography cite template is a single reference citation (book or article) and provides the formatting for it.

The Ludography cite format currently follows the Chicago style for citations.

cite should include is the version of Traveller.
This isn't always clear. There are a number of books written for no specific version of Traveller or multiple versions of Traveller. This is especially true of many websites. One of the reasons this isn't as helpful is it is long standing policy of the wiki not to include any rules or rule references. So it's not clear to me why this needs to be in the citation.
