Question about Merchant Prince

Daddicus

I'm working through learning (and programming) the trade system as presented in LBB 7, Merchant Prince (1985).

On page 39 in the lower right corner is a table labeled "Cargo". In this table you find how much tonnage is available. The table has three columns labeled "Major", "Minor" and "Incidental". However, I am unable to locate the rules that cover these three classifications.

Does anybody know what page the rules for this are on?

The Traveller Book, Page 53
Book 2 (1981, printing 6), page 8.

Major: 1d6 x 10Td
Minor: 1d6 x 5Td
Incidental: 1d6 x 1Td

For clarity that's close but you missed a step. Actually the roll on the table is for the number of cargo lots available. Once that is determined then you roll for each lot as described.

For example:

Pop 6 with no modifiers would be:

1) Roll 1D+2 Lots of Major Cargo - Let's say you get 3+2=5 Lots of Major Cargo.

2) Roll 1D x10 for the total tonnage of EACH Lot - Let's say for the 5 Lots of Major Cargo your rolls are 2, 4, 1, 3, and 3 you end up with:

Lot 1 = 20tons
Lot 2 = 40tons
Lot 3 = 10tons
Lot 4 = 30tons
Lot 5 = 30tons

Total = 130tons of Major Cargo

...repeat for Minor and Incidental Cargo with the tonnage multiplier applicable by type as noted.

I didn't say aything about the table. All he asked for was the size of the lots themselves, and the page reference.

I created an Excel spreadsheet for Merchant Prince - might save you reinventing the wheel.

I posted it in the Files section of the CT Yahoo group, if you're a member there.

If you're interested but can't find it, I'll see about a link.

Why not submit a copy to the files section here, too.
