The map has it listed and included as a member of the Descarothe Hegemony. However, the map on page 55 of The Trail of the Sky Raiders (1982) as it as an independent system. The first attachment shows the borders of both the League of Suns and the Descarothe Hegemony going around the system. The second attachment shows a 'H' for Dansen which is part of the Hegemony and a 'L' for Gniadek which is a member of the League but no designation for Qarant as it is an independent system. Is there a way to correct that?

Nice observation. Here are other sources:

• Dale Kemper's Far Frontiers manuscript for FASA shows Qarant as part of the Descarothe Hegemony, in the hand-drawn map; the subsector data doesn't list any allegiances.
• When published in Ares Magazine Special Edition 2, Qarant is shown as part of the Descarothe Hegemony on both the map (page 33) and identified as such in the subsector data with a "D" (page 37)
• When published in the Traveller Chronicle, Issue 4, Qarant is shown as part of the Descarothe Hegemony on both the map (page 9) and identified as such in the subsector data with a "D" (page 8)

Not a huge surprise, since those are all derived from Dale Kemper's manuscript. My memory is hazy, but that's probably what I gave to DonM as a source for the T5SS data, although he did make various tweaks.

The library data in the manuscript and derived sources gives this useful data though:

Crisis of 1108: Conflict between the League of Suns and the Descarothe Hegemony, declared 223-1108 by Hegemonic governmental representatives in a League Council session.

The clash was the inevitable result of the aggressive policies of the Hegemony from the late 1090s on. Its proximate cause, however, was the claim and counterclaim of wrongdoing arising out of the relatively minor incident on Qarant/Jungleblut. A League scientist, Dr. Lorain Messandi, was kidnapped by persons working in cooperation with the Hegemonic government, and taken to Qarant. A rescue mission containing League citizens crossed the Treaty Line dividing Qarant into League and Hegemonic zones in order to set her free, in the process acquiring important scientific information. The deterioration of relations that followed was topped by the raid on the League’s Qarant Monitor Station (located at the gas giant) and the interment of various scientific personnel on Qarant itself. Armed hostilities continued after this initial series of operations.

This would seem to imply that in the future of 1108 (the data is set in 1105, remember!) the Hegemony and League have split control of Qarant. It might be more accurate to show the world as unclaimed. More research may be required.

Which might then inform the 1120 map data.
