Psionics - The Fourth Training Session

So what is the use or function of the Fourth Training Session?

Is it just a way for The Institute Committee to suck Cr. out of the psion?
If it is non-judgemental and entirely adjustable, why bother to make the flux roll?
What are the implications about this with non-psions ("We will see if you are an animal or a human being..." -Bene Gesserit, Dune)? They have no Ethical disposition?

Hmm. The chart looks...Gygax-ian.
Are there repercussions/penalties to either the player or the psion if the psion is not played in accordance with the declared Ethics disposition. Say declared disposition of Orderly and Moral yet the character acts Chaotic and Immoral.

I've wondered, as well.

The original T5 table used good, neutral, and evil. I made the suggestion to change it to moral/neutral/immoral because the original was Gygaxian, and I felt that morality made more sense. It comes down to context in the specific society in which the character was raised.

After thinking about it in the original form, I decided that these were "tendencies" the examiners saw, and more subconscious than conscious.

I then see the "discussion" as a opportunity for the character to examine their general moral tendencies, and determine how they will consciously act from that point onward. It is the REALIZATION and recognition of those tendencies that finally makes them a true Psion.

Still don't see the need, tho. The player can change his characters personality/drives/desires at will, making this somewhat academic IMHO.
