Planetocopia

So, I did a quick search of the forums to see if this had been posted before, but came up empty.

http://www.worlddreambank.org/P/PLANETS.HTM

The author has some interesting points on different variations on both variant Earths and other (semi-)fictional planets, and a very interesting series called "The Caprices" which postulates worlds with decidedly less-than-ideal conditions for life and theoretical situations where these unideal worlds could develop not only life, but intelligent life.

Thought I'd share the love.

Attention Mods: Can we maybe have a sticky in here for interesting URLs, like this one?

Might not be a bad idea, FT. I'd second that, were it necessary. There are numerous links most of us have floating around in our bookmarks like this and Geoff's Climate Cookbook, etc, that can be very interesting and useful to have when designing planets. While those who've been around a while will have them, newbies likely won't. I've only been collecting links like that since I joined the Cartographer's Guild and later here, as well, so a little over a year, I think. There are many I've seen mentioned that I don't yet have.

Jeff: in re stickys for links...

it's been a bad thing in the past. The links become invalid, then someone (Usually me), has to go back and either correct them, or delete them.

Further, if every cool link were extracted, a LARGE number of links would be present out of context, or many threads would be stickied.

You can, of course, change the setting that shows only the last 30 days to "from the beginning" and get massively long lists of threads. We only delete spam, religion and politics.
