Old Character sheet

Drakon

SOC-14 1K
I found an old character sheet in my Traveller stuff for T20. T20 uses 3d6 for its stats whereas CT and T5 uses 2D6. I am not sure how to convert from one to the other.

Paul Edward Sykes: Str 14, Dex 13, Con 14, Int 14, Edu 18, Wis 14, Cha 12, Soc 11.
Class Navy (INS), Rank Lt. Levels Belt 3/Navy 6 Age 38.

I play my RL age, so this is an old sheet.

Little mods.

I would convert Con to End, strike Wis entirely, note Cha (for use with Vargr) and do the required Aging rolls and good. But then I am known for winging it. :rolleyes:

When converting 3D to 2D or vice versa, I'd start with the probability of the original roll and then find the number that carries the closest probability under the other dice-rolling system. AnyDice can help:

Sorry, that probably isn't very clear, so an example might help: let's say a CT character has Strength = 9. You have approx a 28% chance of rolling at least a 9 on 2D. You have a 26% chance of rolling at least a 13 on 3D. So I would say a D20 stat of 13 was equal to a 9 in CT. And so on.

Just multiply by 2/3. It's what we did when comparing in playtest.

Con = End

Cha = TNE Cha (NOT Vargr Cha.) - can be ignored.

Soc: needs special attention.

The T20 tables 0 No contact with civilization
1 Felon wanted for particularly repulsive crimes
3 Very Poor or Criminal
5 Unskilled Laborer or Very Poor
7 Semi-Skilled or Poor
9 Skilled Worker
12 Educated Professional
14 Highly Respected Professional or Executive
15 Untitled member of Noble family, or close
member of Noble household
16 Knight, Knightess, Dame
18 Baron, Baroness, Baronet
20 Marquis, Marquesa, Marchioness
22 Count, Countess
24 Duke, Duchess
26 Archduke, Archduchess
28 Crown Prince, Crown Princess
30 Emperor

Which means, for ≤14, x2/3 works, but round down.
15+
CT =10+ ((T20-15)/2)

Note that this is simply a reversal of the way it was converted to T20.

Looking at the list, I am not sure where a naval Leutenant in the Imperial navy would fit. I am guessing 9 or A.

Could be anywhere in the social standing ranks... well, not a 1-2, but anything between 3 and 20 in the T20 scale. Just like how, in CT, he could be 2-13, maybe even 14.
