New Campaign Ideas for a Pre-Imperium Era

Is there anyone who would create Campaigns for that takes place in an era before the 3rd Imperium have been conceived. Maybe converting the elements of the series "FireFly" and Serenity" within this campaign. Based upon my experiences in Iraq during OIF3, it help to create some campaigns based on the Global War on Terrorism.

I've got quite an interest in the Long Night period at the moment.

1700 years of pocket empires, unknown space to explore, the ruins of past civilisation, etc.

based on the Global War on Terrorism.
You mean "The American War of Imperial Hegemony" as it is known in my alternate 2300 universe.

Or the "Jihad War" as I've named it in another setting.

Or perhaps the The Illegal War on The Rest of the World.

Meanwhile, yes I've run a few pre-Imperial campaigns, run long before the firefly era. The Long Night is a great age for adventure, probably not as dark as Imperial historians make out.

T4's Milleu 0 is good for this.

GURPS, in case you have missed it have released Interstellar Wars, set in the era directly after Terra's first contact with the Vilani. All reports so far are very good.

Anyhow. Glad your experience produced some interesting campaign elements. My own service has produced some wild campaign ideas. Real Boy's Own stuff.

The Long Night Era would be a excellent place for adventuring, because of its chaotic space and numerous pocket empires for adventurers to explore. This campaign may include the Sylean Federation and other territorial governments within any given sectors of space. (P.S. Please keep your personal politics to yourself since this is an open and free forum.)

How about the mad rush time of the rise of Pax Vilani before the consolidation wars. This gives everyone a chance to be Merchant Princes. All those pesky aliens who believe that their culture is somehow superior to the Vilani must fight an underground war.

Furthermore, you have the Answerin who are fearless suicide bombers who begin to attack Vilani installations.

Then you have the slow power games that the nobles and the cooks are doing behind the scene. Consolidating the loose alliance into an Empire.

Good Call. How about the rise of the Terran Confederation at the defeat of the Vilani Empire in Imperial Year -2204, when the Terrans were expanding their settlements about their territory and within the Aslan Hierate. The game Imperium, which was the predecessor of Traveller RPG, is an excellent resource for that era.

For a while, a friend of mine ran a game in the beginning of the Long Night. It was essentially a "storm warning" campaign where the players were agents of the UNHCR (Refugee Commission) and associated hangers-on. It sounds like it'd be a really boring job, right?

Except we were assigned to go from planet to planet assessing what kind of trouble was going on and how it could be fixed. Many of these planets didn't even know the Vilani Empire had fallen since the ruling classes didn't want to tell their restive populations that. Some planets had already died out, while others were in a state of civil war, HiPop planets turing into urban deserts after a month of rioting caused by a strike of the orbital farmers refusing to send down food to the world below (who couldn't pay for it due to the collapse of interstellar trade) - with the armed farmers trying to prevent the players from escaping with the truth for fear of being prosecuted for Crimes Against Humanity, weird "leonine" aliens seizing entire planets by force and everyone demanding or pleading action by the "government representitives" (the characters).

It was quite depressing, especially when it became obvious to us that the reports were simply being filed away for action while the "currency situation" that got started in Hub/Erushur was resolved...

Mark,

Another product called GURPS Traveller: Interstellar Wars might be an even better resource, don't you think? ;)

Have fun,
Bill

Bill,

I don't have that resource, but I am willing to look into it and hopefully I'll convert it to the Classic Traveller Game system. Thanks for the info.
