My Sunday game:

stealth

SOC-12
I assume this is the forum to talk about your games, so here is the one I ran Sunday 8/28.

Todd is a Star Marine who majored in xenobiology.

Charity is a psionic noble with a hobby – private investigator,

Efate - (1705 A646930-D) High population, Industrial - is the world.

It starts with Charity riding in a grav bus after doing some shopping for weapons in the seedier parts of town. The passengers look like a scene out of cyberpunk – a guy in a mo-hawk with a swords and jack armor, a guy dressed as a headsmen in leather with an axe, a bunch of people openly carrying. A libertarian law level 0 paradise. Then she sees an old lady is clutching a teddy bear, twitching, and sweating. Suddenly grandma gets up and shouts “It's YOU! YOU ALL WANT TEDDY! YOUR TRYING TO TAKE TEDDY!” and opens up on a passenger with a laser pistol, slicing him in half. Charity draws and fires.

Everybody's guns come out and grandma dies in a hail of gunfire. There is a brief struggle for belongings, but Charity is interested in the bear, thinking it may hold something. “You where right”, she remarks, “I really do want Teddy”.

Most players can recognize an obvious plot device.

She takes it to her office and tries forensics, but no dice. It was made by “BearCo”, according to the tag. So she tries Object Reading using clairvoyance, and gets a vision of a man with a maniacal grin spraying the bear down with a hand-mister.

Thinking she's been poisoned, she calls a “discreet” chemist and doctor and gets Todd, who has all kinds of chemistry and biology skills, as well as medical-3. He uses a biosniffer and his med-kit, and scores a critical triple ones on his skill roll (this is T5). So he learns everything – it's a contact poison that causes paranoia and insanity. It looks custom made. Todd decontaminates her.

The players take this information to BearCo, which is concerned that it is facing a case of product tampering by a lone wolf madman. It hires Charity and Todd to investigate.

Nobody in the company looks like Charity's vision, so she tracks down the itinerary of the bus and finds a toy distributor on the route. They check out the store, and a bin full of bears shows one contaminated.

Charity goes to see the manager in his office, and it's the guy from her vision. She draws and shoots him in the temple with her gauss pistol.

Efate has no police, just private security companies (law level 0), and everybody (BearCo, the toy store, the players) don't want this to come out (that would be mediapathic) and Charity insists she fired because the man drew a mister on her (there's one in his desk, which she finds while searching his office). So her story holds. The security company searches the man's house and finds his chemistry lab, with more toxin. No motive is ever found.

The players get paid, and the toy bear poisoning stops.

The game took maybe two hours to run, and was a lot of fun. Afterward, I ran “Chiller” from JTAS.

Everybody had fun.

Chiller

That was a fun adventure the cold environment and mystery element ... reminded me of an old Donald Sutherland movie "Bear Island".
