My dream ship builder

I have used Rob's app; it works, and is a lot easier than building by hand. The problem I have is the method.

Rob's ship builder app is a great thing, and saves a load of time. I don't know how hard it might be to update his builder - I appreciate his work, and know it isn't a quick thing to make updates.

After some contemplation, attempts at shipbuilding, and general pain with the current process as defined in the BBB, I have this outline for what i'd like to see in a shipbuilder app.

1.) Select power, stellar, and intersteller drive type and rating
- for example, J-4, M-2, P-4
2) Select component and TL from pick list for other shipboard installations - crew quarters, turrets, sensors, computer, and so on.
3) Click a generate button, and the app would calculate drive and power sizes, hull size, and apply the TL adjustments.

For now, this is the simple version. What would YOU like to see in a builder?

Funny you should mention this. A month or two ago I started on a much less GUI-intensive shipbuilder. It assumes you know the mount names and stage effect names, and follow a couple other conventions... and it doesn't offer any help, yet. But it might be in the direction you're looking.

What it DOESN'T do is compute the hull size... yet. I've been planning on that option, though.

(The URL below includes a short example of what I'm talking about)

Hmmm...once again I'm a bit behind the power curve. And I don't mind at all.

I'll take a look, and thank you!

I have too many eggs, and not enough cartons. ;)
