How about this: we'll look at streamlining and drop tanks with the next part of this project, which should be Books 4 - 8. There's enough controversy in those books for the MT rules that they deserve their own focus.

In the meantime, back to the LBB 1-3s, The Traveller Book, and Starter Traveller...?

As drop tubes can take two forms...internal and the sacrifice of Cargo Space (a la Search for Longer Legs) or external and it was one of the small craft and disposable. Only the disposable ones could I really see as being unstreamlined and those would be issued only to military transport (otherwise the risk to navigation would be too great ~ however, that does not prevent private contractors/garbarge scrawls picking them up and selling them at a profit portside to unweary buyers).

The military unstreamlined model could improve jump numbers by two and be fitted with miminal disruption.

External what defence contractors would be allowed to sell to civilians could improve jump performance by one.
