Mishap table

foleypt

SOC-9
I have a question about the Mishap table on page 14 of the Referee's Manual. I think I am clear about when to use it, but is the damage imposed by the table the same as the damage imposed in Megatraveller combat, i.e. each would later converts to 1d off a stat or is it direct off a stat as in classic Traveller?

I have been playing the table as 1d direct off a stat as i didn't want to kill too many players (yet!) and the Superficial (1d) result could kill or give major damage to a player if you rolled a 6 and had to then roll 6d against player stats.

I've always treated it as damage to stat, as well.

I think that is correct

I've always treated it as damage to stat, as well.

Sounds right. I mean, the easy way to tell is what does the mid-level mishap typically result in?

If it would be a moderate injury, that's probably about right. If it would be a likely mortality, that's probably incorrect.

The most serious mishaps should carry a chance of death (you pile your grav belt into the face of an overpass at 160 kph.... that'll leave a mark....).

No problem! Nothing that a medbot can't take care of what with the overpass impact sidings.

Of course, there are the small issues of the citation for reckless endangerment of a public access-way; the grav belt moving violation; and the fees for replacement of 1000 meters of impact sidings and emergency medical services response...
