Amindii, Aslan, Bwap, Llellewyloly, and Vargr. A very brief overview.

Certainly not a comprehensive list, nor a comprehensive treatment -- and intended to be neither (and note that I intentionally and cheekily omit the Droyne).

interesting...
for the PHB?

I might change this line
"the most common caricature of a non-human sophont is the Vargr pirate,"

are they caricatures?
oed:

A picture, description, or imitation of a person in which certain striking characteristics are exaggerated in order to create a comic or grotesque effect:

A ludicrous or grotesque version of someone or something:

is that what you meant? or is the following more accurate?

"the most commonly encountered non-human sophont us the Vargr pirate?"

I think he might have meant that the stereotype of the Vargr pirate is a caricature of Vargr, and it is the most widespread (common) of such racial (specietial?) caricatures in Charted Space.

Where do the "Amindii" come from. The write-up says that they are native to Regina, but I have no recollection of them in any of the Classic or even MegaTraveller collection.

CT Jtas 7
T5 Imperiallines 6
Source of amindii

They make up a significant % of the population on world
I have just searched JTAS 7 - no mention of the Amindii.
The Traveller wiki says the source is JTAS 7 - but they are not in there.
Hmm - according to a source the untitled picture on page 14 may show one...

I can save you the bother - there is an illustration on page 14 that apparently shows one...
no caption, no explanation, you need to be psionic to realise...

re Amindii. In Best of JTAS, on the first page of the "R&R" reprint, there's an illustration of the customs area of a busy downport. Two Amindii are in the forefront tables, checking baggage. Two more Amindii (IIRC) are flanking the rear open exit as guards.

I can't remember if there are more of them in that image... wait the image is reprinted in Imperiallines No. 6. Ok, four Amindii in that pic.

I'm tentatively adding Droyne to the document. After all, there are two Droyne worlds in the Spinward Marches.

Does that show up in JTAS 1-24 at all? I have those in hard copy and digital format, but I do not remember anything about any "Amindii".

They are unnamed, but they show up in the picture in Best of the Journal, Vol. 2, p. 30, as well as JTAS 07, p.34. They are the sophonts working at the desk in the lower left corner.

I looked it up and found them. I never paid any attention to the artwork of that or most other articles. If I did, I simply put them down as a creation of the illustrator, with no other purpose. Guess just another reason to ignore a lot of the OTU.
