Ling Standard Products Second Officer, Kai Lei Hao Age 30
Kai Lei Hao, was born on 048-1084 (2/17/5603 CE on our calendar) on the planet Baakh. She is the daughter of a prominent family of merchants who have long held executive positions with the Ling Standard Products orporation. Her grandfather, Sir Jiayi Hao is a board member of Ling Standard Products in that sector. Her father is a chief executive with the company on Baakh.
Ling, or LSP, is one of the largest and most powerful mega corporations in the Third Imperium. Her family goes back many generations with Ling and has long held mid- and upper level executive positions with the company. Within the Ley Sector the Hao family is well connected in politics, with the Imperial nobility, as well as widely known in the merchant community.
Kai is the middle child and has two brothers, the older being a successful and aspiring executive with Ling. As a female she does not stand to inherit her family’s wealth and she is independent enough from her upbringing that she wants to prove herself rather than simply be married off. To that end, she took on a career as a merchant officer with LSP.
Kai is Asian in appearance with short black hair and dark eyes. She is 165 centimeters tall with an athletic build and reasonably attractive. She is usually well dressed and has business-like appearance about her. Her demeanor is that of someone with social status in both her body language and speech. She is can be a bit formal in her dealings with others, particularly those she is not familiar with or close to.
Aboard ship she is usually wears clothing that is similar in appearance to that of a uniform when not actually in an officer’s uniform. Kai understands the corporate hierarchy and expects that position, status and, the chain of command are respected and followed by her subordinates just as she follows them with her superiors.
At 18 Kai was admitted to a prestigious Imperial Merchant Academy on Dukh (in part by her family’s social status) where she did well but just missed being an honor student. Her hire by Ling Standard Products was all but guaranteed when she graduated. Upon graduation she was assigned to a large sector freighter as Fourth Officer in deck department as her first position with the company, a prestigious initial position for any graduate. Kai showed an immediate aptitude for the job working extremely hard to prove herself. She showed ability as both a leader and skilled ship handler. This resulted in a quick promotion to Third Officer. She stayed on with this ship for an second four year term to gain more experience. Because of her skill as a merchant bargaining with customers and vendors alike she gained the attention of her managers. This got her a second promotion to 2nd Officer by the end of her second four year contract.
Her family rewarded her success by purchasing her a Traveler’s Aid Society membership. This is something each successful Hao family member has.
Her ability and family history brought her to the attention of certain Ling executives who were looking for an aggressive, young officer who would be capable of handling a sensitive and independent post with the company. The rewards would be quite good if that officer succeeded with the assignment. They approached Kai through her father who arranged a meeting between her and the executives.
