Inhabited Jupiter-type star system

Anyone remember the end of 2010? Gee, do I?

If I remember correctly, the alien artifact ignited Jupiter into a star, providing a range of new environments for man to explore.

I have a similar event happening IMTU, with the device being a self-repaired stargate that lets the star ignite.

Just what sort of situation are we looking at here? Can I use Book 6 to actually figure out whap happens? Is this a sign that I am late taking my Prozac again...?

I did not think that a star that small could be sustained. From what I have gleaned around here is that something that small would have burned itself out into a brown dwarf. Smoldering, massive, hot, useless pains in the jump drive. Let me dig out Book 6. Got it around here somewhere . . . .

BTW how does the stargate work to ignite the planet?

The stargate has an energy tap into the sun's core to power its systems. With the tap deactivated, there would be enough energy remaining to initiate full fusion. How long? Who cares?
