MGT Only: I started a game...

Ok, So, I have just started a game (We are using Mongoose 1st Edition/Cepheus Engine with the Traits from 2300AD MgT1 ), its set in the 3rd Imperium, and starting date is 181-1107 (that's about a week before the 5th Frontier War starts ~aka the invasion of Regina).

It should be noted, that the players don't know that a war is about to start, and have chosen the criminal skills package to go with their 200t Far-Trader, as they want a "Firefly" type game. (Yes I know, It's the Spinward Marches, and 'Space-Trucker' is pretty much standard play).

What I want to ask is...(They are starting on Regina).... What do YOU think would be fun encounters/events for them?

encounters with espionage agents or commando teams or advance scout elements.

refugees fleeing the advancing happy police state - noble families or VIP/scientist/scout teams needing extraction, emergency ship repairs.

some high noble princess who commandeers their ship/team for a mission in exchange for some large stash of cash accessed by the mission (princess lea meets kelly's heros).

Members of an Ine Givar front organization - posing as businessmen, or tourists, or what-have-you - seeking to hire the unknowing players for some mission (e.g. making a delivery of contraband; taking someone off-planet while avoiding the authorities; conducting industrial espionage - which turns out to be real espionage). The terrorists (who are working at Zhodani behest) could later blackmail the players into more acts - or the players could be approached by Imperial Naval Intelligence to foil Ine Givar plans (and/or learn the role of the Zhodani).
