Anyone use them? Anyone know about them? Fascinating characters, and very adaptable. How would you incorporate them into the game?

Hokas, those loveable, furry critters from the Poul Anderson/Gordon Dickson short stories. The complete history of these aliens can be found in: EARTHMANS BURDEN, HOKA!, and STAR PRINCE CHARLIE. Highly recommended for a nice light read.

Hokas. Immensely muscular, almost indestructable teddy bears.

Also extremely bright, very immitative, and great admirers of human society and literature.

Remember the Classic Trek episode "A Piece of the Action"? Consider a furry 3' tall Bela Oxmix who can tuck James Kirk under an arm and push the Packard ten miles to get breakfast.

I've personally never inflicted them on my players. but... heh.. there've been times I've been tempted.

I have been tempted to "inflict them on my players", but have been merciful so far.
The closest I came to that was having a Ewok family group stow away on a groups frieghter in a Star Wars campaign. The Ewoks learned a bunch about engineering is two weeks, almost as much as the groups engineer learned.
