Hit Points

Frewfrux

SOC-12
Several careers mention hit points for when character fails a risk roll. I assume this means that there's a method for calculating hit points naturally, but I can't seem to find it. Any help would be appreciated.

(Searching the rule text just gives the mentions in the careers and once in Sophont creation.)

Its the amount of wounds or damage. See the Personal Combat chapter for details of assigning hit/injuries.

Risk/Reward.

When a character fails a Risk roll, they take Hits equal to the missed roll. So, if our hero is doing a Risk roll versus a Dex 8 and rolls 10, the character takes 2 Hits to Dex and rolls 1D for Recovery. If they roll over the Hits on the Recovery die, they take no permanent damage, otherwise they only recover what they rolled, so if our hero rolls 1, then they recover 1 Hit and have an Injury to Dex, which reduces it to Dex 7. If they roll 2 then they fully recover and may get a Wound Badge (for Armed Forces).

OH!!! So THAT'S what C-R means...Characteristic minus roll. That REALLY isn't clear in a lot of places.

Yes, that answers my question (plus the question about C-R). :D
