History of the Third Imperium

What do you view as the best source material (book or other)for a comprehensive history of the Third Imperium for use in Traveller 5?

There are a variety of sources for the information but I am looking for your opinions on the source material you are using (or would use) for a campaign setting in or around the Golden Age. The Core Rule book recommends: as 'chronicled' in Classic Traveller.

I have tried to get hold of a copy of Atlas Of The Imperium for the last 3 years but, alas, no joy.

travellermap.com is an excellent resource and I frequently refer to it.

DonM has two things: the first is a Traveller5 Writer's Guide [draft] which has a good synopsis and glossary that helps more than you might think. The other is his Integrated Timeline, a big ol' PDF with just about every event that was ever written down and when it happened.
