Game Resources

Hey, over on the d20 thread I made a post and it reminded me of some of the non-rpg stuff that I used. So let's see, In San Diego many years ago I found a great map store that had lots of cool stuff. I bought Aeronautical Maps of Poland and East Europe. I was able to by Topo maps of various places in the U.S. Now I use Rand McNally's New Millenium Atlas on my computer for good TW maps. Of course there is always GlobeExplorer, TopoZone and Terraserver for Satellite and Topo maps on the Internet.

I've also used R. Talsorian's The Compendium of Modern Firearms and Morrow Project's weapon and equipment stats.

And since I always new Twilight Players who were in the Service I've got a few Army Field Manuals on diverse subjects for flavor.

So, anyone else ever found any other good non-rpg material that they've used and might suggest as a resource?

On the TML a while ago, someone mentioned that good ship names could be gleaned from horse races. I found a couple of good lists on the web, and the names do seem very cool:

Hong Kong Jockey Club

Golden Steed Stables

Some of my favourites are:
Wild Gin
Firing Fly By
Joy Ride
Masfield Star
Maximum Joy
Brilliant Express
Rainbow and Gold

A friend of mine in the army in the late 80's gave me a set of armored vehicle ID cards (the size of a deck of playing cards). One set has side and oblique views of various tanks and APC's from a variety of countries. On the back is the vehicle statistics (weight, speed, armament, etc). I would use those to show the party what type of vehicle or wreck they encounter. After a while they got to recognize NATO vs Warsaw Pact.

Oh YEA, I forgot about those! I think I might have a deck around here somewhere.

Talk about a cool Game Accessory! FFE should do a "Twilight Deck" based off of those. Do it without actual game stats, just pictures and it would be usuable by any version.

P.S. Hey FFE, I might be "convinced" to give you my deck if you need it for reference.

Greylond, I have to say that I am offended by your signature quote. I happen to like the accordion.

Hey, I do too! But I still wouldn't take Wierd Al on a hunting trip!

Considering the attitudes of most Military Twilight Players that I met toward the actions of the TW2K French Government, I thought it would be a good one for this forum.

I had one player who always wanted to find a "lost" nuke and drop it on Paris

My players did acquire a suitcase nuke (campaign run in Iran using an adventure with a nuke from Challenge magazine). They had 2 French Legionnaires in their unit at the time too. :D
