Determining Gambling Endurance.
(Houserule)

Page 128-129 of MgT Scoundrel provides a mechanism for gambling games, and requires the Referee to determine the value of a quantity called 'Endurance' for each gambler. However, no guidance is given on how to determine Endurance.

The following is a proposed method for determining this Endurance but, as a non-gambler, I'd like some feedback on its viability.

Endurance = Gambling Skill + Stake Points.

Stake points are bought for cash. The value of a stake point is determined by taking the difficulty level of the game (from the skill of the highest player in the table on p129) and cross referring this to the 'money earned' in the table on p128.

Hence, an average level game will have stake points available for 150Cr and a Level-2 gambler wanting an Endurance of 8 will need to buy 8-2=6 points, requiring him to put 6x150 or 900Cr on the table.

A gambler buying stake points significantly outside the (unknown) norms for the game might find himself under scrutiny.

At the end of the game, stake points are exchanged for cash again. Negative stake points (remember, stake points = Endurance minus skill level) represent a debt that will be collected one way or another...

It can be seen that a skilled gambler with no cash can enter a game or remain in a game, at least for a round or two, on skill points alone. This represents his marker limit based perhaps on his reputation. Alternatively, a low skilled gambler may simply buy a seat at the table despite having no credibility.

Friendly, or Low Stakes games are available at 10% of the above stake point costs, and High Stakes games may be available at ten times the above stake point costs, or alternatively there may be no limit on the number of raises permitted.
In the example above, stake points for a friendly game would be 15Cr each, whereas stake points for a High Stakes game would cost 1500 each.

Optionally, the Referee may impose a DM on the gamber's skill level (not stake) depending on his confidence. Perhaps this could be the difference between his skill level and the highest (or next highest) gambler in the game?
This DM would alter the cost of a given Endurance or alter the affordable Endurance level.
