So, I've read up to the "Tons" section (I'm a slow reader, and have a 7-month old son, so not a lot of time). Someone asked if I could post my initial impressions of the book so here are the first 10 thoughts I though as I read. (I noted them as I went along.)
Disclaimer: These are my FIRST IMPRESSIONS, not what I actually think of the book or what my final opinion of the new rules will be. Some impressions were even changed by the end of the page.
First 10 Thoughts As I Read Were:
1. That's definitely the size of book I would expect for $75
2. This is a little daunting. I wonder how long it will take to get through all this material.
3. I LOVE that there is an “Absent Friends” section for so many reasons!!! Never loose this from this point on.
4. There's a lot of text and not a lot of pictures. (I was just up to the dice section by this point)
5. Dice conventions seem unnecessarily complex.
6. These dice tables should be in an appendix.
7. This C+S table is difficult to read. Maybe I will be able to understand it once I know how task resolution works. (I have this feeling like the rules might have already gone over task resolution but I didn't understand what was being said.)
8. Many Dice: Again, initial impression is that it's overly complicated.
9. Tons: Wait...I thought a ton was 14 cubic meters?
10. Tons: Ohhhhhhhh
