Enhanced Chargen in T5?

Does the current draft of T5 include enhanced character generation (as in MT)?

Back in the late '90's I received some the T5 draft chapters which included basic chargen, plus quick chargen, but no enhanced system with yearly assignments. At the time (knowing that T5 would not be finished and released for many years) I thought I might run a campaign using a hybrid of T4 and the draft T5. So I set about converting MT chargen into something T5-compatible -- changing roll-over-TNs into roll-under-TNs, for instance, and updating the skill tables.

I never did run that campaign. And then more recent draft material became available, particularly an updated Skills list. Many skills had been eliminated, combined, renamed, etc. Cascades and Clusters had been changed into "Skill Groups", and so on. So I abandoned my enhanced chargen project, at least until T5 actually came out.

Now I'm curious to know whether T5 might actually have enhanced chargen in it?

I don't honestly know, but I doubt it. I don't remember ever seeing a chargen with any advanced stuff in it. Though, MWM was working on higher skill levels and more skill variety than original Traveller (CT).

I think what the original poster means is Books 5-8 style generation. Which was very neat at the time, but it really needed to be consistent with the standard generation system. Overall, I would think it wouldn't be worth the effort to do right.

AFAIK, T5 is based heavily on T4.something or other, so there probably wont be any enhanced CharGen in T5. As has been said, it looks like the number of skills per term will be increased (to 2, I think).

Equally though, as Andrew said, it shouldn't be too hard to put together for T5....

T4 was 4 per term, plus 1 per position/comission/promotion(E or O)/Special Duty.

T5 early draft was the same.
