Easy character portraits

Can draw, but you want to illustrate your characters?

Not a problem HERO MACHINE is a great little FREE site program will help you make nice looking renders of your space faring guy (or gal).

It can also help you make aliens.... give it a whirl! But start with 2.5 (or basic) for easy a learning curve.

Here is one I made...

Yes, I used Hero Machine to create my first image of my character (Katherine Gueter) for the Official 30th Anniversary Classic Traveller Play-by-Post game. It's a rather useful tool.

I tried to use SecondLife after that to generate a realistic 3D figure and take screen captures of that. Not nearly as easy, but it obviously allows more freedom for the poses/angles/lighting.

Of course, if you can't draw, and you just want a face to put to your character, you can find an appropriate photo on the internet, then turn it into a pen&ink/pencil/cartoon drawing using something like PhotoShop or gimp. It's not very hard to do, but not all pictures turn out the same (high contrast pics work best).
