In the Drifter Career chargen it says (p16 Core Book) that Drifters take basic training from the specialist tables rather than the Service Skills table.

So what is the service skills table for? When is it used?

Service skills tables are tied to a "Service" as in the Army is a military "service", Merchant Marine "Service", etc. It's skills that are used and taught by that service.
