CT AM05 overview in lieu of T5

If I were to use CT AM05 with Traveller5, here's what I might consider superfluous or obsolete to a certain extent:

Pages 15-17, Psionics, would be modified, relying on the BBB where possible.

Pages 18-34, Character Generation, would also be shortened quite a lot, keeping the more Droyne-specific bits, but relying on the BBB for career resolution and the Droyne Character Card for many aspects of character management. There might be a second Character Card for "Oytrip" Droyne generation. At any rate, this section would likely be less than half its size.

Pages 42-43, Starships, would do in a pinch, but I'd rather have updated summary text from ACS.

In short, using T5 for character generation details, the rest of CT AM05 is basically usable as-is.

Sounds about right.
  • For psionics, the key thing is their two distinctive racial abilities: Invisibility and Home.

  • For starships, there are only three ... and they can be re-executed in ACS.

  • They'll have their own slightly modified versions of standard equipment. (But no robots ... as per CT Book 8, p14.)

  • Language ... there is a small but growing vocabulary that's built up over the years (some from the text, some thanks to various contributors) that would be a nice to have. 53 words so far, I think, but this could be expanded and some grammar rules added. (Coincidentally, I was tinkering with that last week, but still early stages.)

  • There is the question about how much do you put in about the relationship with the Ancients. This was a secret, once, but now old timers know it. Of course, it could still be a surprise for any new blood.

  • There is a Droyne merchant line and a Droyne free trader listed in CT Book 7.

  • The GT version included some simple illustrations of the various coyns, and other snippets of background information that shouldn't be lost. (Not sure about any copyright issues.)
