52 CrImp Up.
I may have to get those Minion ones - they have a batch of one of each. Not sure about pre-orders though. They seem to want to see what sort of interest is raised. Sad I missed the Kickstarter on that.
Looking at the Traveller Cr25 coin, I see that it was minted by the Bank of Regina in 1116. Wonder how many banks can mint coins, and making a wild assumption of at least one per sector (and more likely subsector), if people would collect coins from each sector as they do with the US state-based or park-based quarters. Could even be runs from Core sectors making their way out to the boonies of the Imperium. Coin collectors may pay a pretty credit to get their hands on those...especially the rumored mis-cast CR52 coin from the dyslexic mint.
Yeah, and they cost a lot more than Cr 52 to get.
Cr 52 * 1D * KCr 2
This is the current pricing for them in my ATU. Authentic ones are distinguished by their having the date 57 PI and were minted at the Imperial Mint at Quelw [FS 0927].
As to the banks, honestly, I would keep them on the Sector level. Otherwise, you start getting too many chances for counterfeiting. 24 Banks are enough, multiply that by 8 and we got some 192 banks minting currency. That is way too many Imperial banks for clever Sophonts not to try and make some fake money "from across the Imperium, the Solomani homeworld Bank of Terra as you can see, minted during the Rim War, not cheap or easy to find, good sir. If that isn't to your taste, have you heard of the Cr 52 coin?"
EDIT:So, I just worked out what an average Cr 52 miscast was worth.
Cr 52 * ( 1D = 3) * KCr 2 = KCr 312.
Turns out they
are kinda a pricey. Hmmm, now what other errors in the "hard" currencies? Once I get the proper net machine up again, I will post a sketch I did of one. Thanks Coliver! That was awesome and extremely useful.
