Chargen/Continue Errata

Hi ALl,

This is pretty trivial, but I'm wondering what the deal is with continuation rolls in chargen? My copy of 5.09 contradicts itself a couple times. For instance, the character creation example "Eneri Dinsha Serves the Empire," suggests he needs to roll 7+terms to continue. The character generation checklist, (p 53?) says it's just a plain 7, with no mod for terms. The actual spacer career write-up says it's an STR check, of all things, with no mention of a terms mod.

I realize I could probably pick any one of these rules and be satisfied, but would appreciate an official answer. I'd also love any justification behind it, if such exists.

I noticed similar discrepancies in other careers, but the naval one stood out to me mostly because it's always been one of my favorite Traveller prior services.

I used Hemdian's flowcharts, which you can find by searching the forums, to resolve these issues. I personally don't agree with that 7 roll, I think it should be one of the characteristics like the other careers. I think there's one place in the rules where it does show a characteristic for that. So that's currently unresolved.

I would go with the detailed description of the Spacer career on p61.

Then Continue is 2D ≤ Str (no mod).


The Agent and Rouge careers use a +Mod Term, most careers don't.

I don't know. It's why I was a bit baffled by the discrepancy.
