I would think that the genetic modifications the Ancients used to uplift wolves to Vargr would be drastic enough to keep them from being able to have offspring with each other. The modifications weren't just improved intelligence, but major physical changes, like quad-pedal to bi-pedal with hands.
An example on the Human side are Sydites. Sydites are genetically modified Humans. Two pairs of arms and about a half meter taller plus they mass about 50%(?) more than the average Human. The description for Sydites says they cant have offspring with base Humans due to the severe genetic modifications done by the Ancients.
Making a Vargr/Wolf chimera to have a Vargr with enhanced abilities might be a thing, but that would be a test tube Vargr.
