Bomb #20 in Dark Star (1974)

If you haven't seen Dark Star (1974) I would recommend watching it, before reading this thread.
I was thinking of AI gone wrong as a plot for a scenario. Dark Star presents this familiar theme in SF. How would the party convince the bomb not to detonate or release it elsewhere leading to inevitable hostility from those nearby.
Perhaps a throw against Computer-1 would be enough. How do you treat malfunctions?

I would think more robotics skill for CT.

Interaction and decision making would definitely be part of AI coding skill. I suppose philosophy was an element, maybe more a JoaT roll in the movie.

"Bomb, this is Baroun."
"Hi Jeff! 23 minutes until detonation."
"Bomb, range to target star at launch?"
"Jeff, 1.02 AU."
"Bomb, current range to target?"
"I see the star at 1.02 AU"
"Bomb, if your range to target hasn't changed... that indicates a failure to properly deploy. Concur?"
"I'm not sure about that.... and I only have 21 minutes until detonation."
"Bomb, what's your effective radius when you detonate?"
"If I detonate within 0.02AU of the star I can destabilize it."
"Bomb, do you think it might be a good idea to wait until you're within effective range to detonate? I mean, considering you only get to blow up once, and you don't want to waste it."
"20 minutes until I'm scheduled to detonate..... But... you do have a point. I can see the star. I can see the ship. I'm not in range of my target. I'll wait until I'm in range. Detonation postponed."
....
...
"Ship, this is Bomb. Request course change."
"Bomb, what? "
"Ship, please come to 127 mark 0, maximum thrust, to facilitate my bombing run. Hold course for 19 minutes."
"Bomb, I'm not authorized to do that. Sorry."

Great movie.

The scenario sounds like something that would've been a problem for characters dealing with Virus shortly after its release, say 1130.
