By default, every ship has installed (at no extra cost) a navigation system. It also has a Communicator with Range 7, a Radar with Range 7 for collision detection, and several Range 6 Portholes for visual detection (p. 383). Upgrades, additional sensors, and various sensor modifications are available, but for this design's purposes the defaults are fine (and help keep the price down).
