Ancient Roman's Played RPGs?

From a post on JTAS by Rick Rutherford.

From the Christie's Auction listing (paraphrased due to Christie's tight copyright):

It seems the Romans of the 2nd century A.D. made polyhedrals in several shapes and of various materials. It has not yet been established which game(s) these dice were used for.

Pity the books of their ancient RPG's didn't survive ;)

That's not fair!!!
The D20 system does not need to have roots that go back that far.

Hasbro/Wizards of the Coast used a Time Machine to go back and establish a foothold? Or is the d20 system an alien diabolical plot to reign in creative thinkers by keeping them occupied by gaming instead of working on things like gravity generation and FTL travel?

One die to rule them all...
