Unhappy

I'm not sure that I understand how AP works against vehicles or armor. OK first let me tell you how I think it works. If my character has an autopistol which does 1d10 damage against a vehicle it would due 1d10-5 against a vehicle. If the vehicle had an armor rating of 6 it would due 1d10-11, which means no damage. Is that correct? Now what happens when you add +8 AP rounds to the autopistol? I think the damage against an vehicle would be 1d10. +8 rounds remove the -5 penalty. or is it 1d10+3. But what is the damage against a vehicle with a AR of 8 does the autopistol with +8 AP now deal 1d10-5 damage? what is the damage if you add a +8 HEAP round to the last example is the damage 2d10-5 +1 dice for the high explosive round. or is it 1d10-4. When do you add the extra die damage before or after the reduction for AR and or vehicle?
Thanks

Say Jack has a Light Assault Gun.
Standard Round: 2d10
HE round: 3d10
+3 AP round: 2d10

Target 1: Man in Cloth Armor AR 6
Standard Round: 2d10 Stamina, 1d10-5 Lifeblood (i.e. he must roll at least a 6 on the 1d10 to do any Lifeblood damage)
HE Round: 3d10 Stamina, 1d10-4 Lifeblood
+3 AP: 2d10 stamina, 1d10-2 Lifeblood

Target 2: unarmored Air/Raft
Standard Round: 1d10-4 SI
HE Round: 1d10-3 SI
+3 AP: 1d10-4 SI (AP does not counteract scaling between personal weapon and vehicle target)

Target 3: armored car AR 4
Standard Round: 1d10-8 SI
HE Round: 1d10-7 SI
+3 AP: 1d10-5 SI

Yes, absolutely correct so far

As I understand it, it will be 1d10-5, since AP shells negate points of the target's AR, they do not add damage dice. Since the base vehicle has no armor, the AP does no good.

Autopistol AP +8 vs vehicle AR 8 does 1d10-5

Autopistol with AP+8, HE would be 1d10-4,the extra die is added first

Cool

Thanks DrSkull,
That helps!

I did know that "AP does not counteract scaling between personal weapon and vehicle target"

From the weapons table, the way I read it, only grenades and snub guns get AP rounds.

If you consider AP rounds to be HEAT type rounds, this makes sense.
