Oh, now there's a temptation to a GM - the guy on guard duty has already been up almost 16 hours of heavy labor, and wants to stay up 7 more hours, drinking coffee to stay awake, while sitting in a nice comfy chair!

However w the one replacement part, plus use of machinery and operators for full day plus overtime, plus using port fabrication equipment and stock for making those adaptors, plus replenishing ship's parts supply for cables, connectors, etc used up today, that should take care of that Cr 3360.
If we just handed the ship over to a class A starport and said "take care of the Maneuver Drives", it would have cost 33,360 credits and no crew labor.

If we did all of work ourselves (including rebuilding the drives), the 33,360 credit cost would have been only 11,120 credits in parts and 22,240 credits worth of "sweat equity".

We spent 30,000 credits for a core that already had most of the work done, and installed it ourselves. So, I just split the remaining 3360 credits for starport labor and parts to install the 30,000 credit rebuilt drive in half ... 1680 credits in parts and equipment and 1680 credits in labor and profit. Since we are doing the labor rather than the starport crew, I just proposed that it should cost some amount less than letting a shipyard do the work.

[EDIT: This is not a challenge, just a clarification of my intent ... and a defense against the mud slinging charge of "double-dipping". ]

Well if Doc had known how long it was going to take, he would have contacted Sgt Blaser and that waitress and her bar and see about arrange a BBQ at the side of the ship. We could have all had a good time, good food and got the work done.

Doc needs to talk with the Captain about organizing these planet side stops to not be all work with a side of work too.

OK< thanks for te clarification. My unsderstanding from when yiu wer alking estimates before was that it includd a large labor component. So I guess what we shiuld hacve done thi site was make the big parts cost less, bc in my experience (w farm machiner, not starships) there is always someth8g that breaks or doesn't fit or... heh heh, just wait till next time. Eh, let's stick w the numbers we have, but Mac will discover the trade-oins are in better shape than he expected and give Cr12K for them.

Default 1930 shiptime (0030 local) 3731-08-14

[Max]
By 1930 shiptime, the hull is finally closed in and most of the crew wanders off.
Max has the ship's computer running a diagnostic on the new drives as he walks from drive to drive checking readings and making fine adjustments to perfectly balance and synchronize the drives as well as optimize their performance. Max loves listening to the hum of his new drives as they sing their readiness to get to work.

As 2030 shiptime (0130 local) rolls around, Max - who has been up and working for more than 20 hours (after 4 previous days of double shifts) - drags himself off to bed and collapses from exhaustion ... sleeping until 0630 ship time (1130 local) unless woken for a crisis before then.

EDIT: date added to time

<dippy reporter voice>
OK, Captain and crew of Fortunate Son, you've just completely fixed and maintained your M-drives! What are you gonna do now?

Alright then, in the morning at 0700 Hampton will contact Nero and finalize the cargo arrangement, including letting him know:

1) The remaining cargo space we have available for his metals shipment. I doubt he'll show up with 80 tons or more, but just in case he decides he wants to take anything else with him.

2) We will plan to lift off no later than 60 hours from now. He needs to be on board with this retinue by then.

3) He needs to have the required paperwork ready for signing before we load a single ounce of ore.

4) He needs to make the arrangements for the Gazelle escort.
