Call for Authors
Writing for QLI: Travellers' Aide or EPIC Adventure Series
We hope to make the Travellers Aide and EPIC Adventure series a regular gaming resource, but for this to happen we need authors. Ideally, QLI would like to work with a team of regular contributors but we're just as open to one-off authors.
Author Guidelines There isn't a lot of money in it. QLI will pay $250 for all rights to your submission. Payment is due 45 days after publication in whichever medium is first. Publication will be at the discretion of QLI, though permission to publish may be withdrawn by the author at any point until art and layout have been commissioned. Similarly, QLI may in some circumstances choose not to publish after acceptance has been made. In both these cases no payment is due, and the rights revert to the original author. Ideas and concepts remain your own until accepted for publication, but at that point will pass into the "game domain". QLI gains the right to publish and reprint your work in any medium as seen fit, and concepts contained in your submission become available for others to use in the same manner as any other official Traveller game materials. By submitting the draft you certify that it contains nothing libellous and is your own work, containing no plagiarism or unauthorised use of intellectual properties, and created with proper regard to Traveller canon, avoiding areas of "forbidden canon". Standards of content and decency will be observed in keeping with Marc Miller's vision of the Traveller universe. The editors will make any changes seen fit, and will definitely ask you to revise the draft at least once. Travellers' Aide volumes will typically be 16-24,000 words in length, or equivalent in the case where the submission has many maps, stat blocks or similar. Authors will be properly credited in all published versions of their work, except where a trivial amount of the work is quoted as part of a different publication. All Travellers' Aide submissions will be as rules-light as possible. Stats, where necessary, will be in T20 form, though additional Classic Traveller stats are entirely acceptable. It is preferable if stats can be provided by the author, but in some cases these can be created in-house. Notes: We're afraid that we're not interested in anyone's pet "fixes" for the Traveller universe, nor in variant settings at this time. Travellers' Aide is set in the Official Traveller Universe, and whatever you may think of some of its concepts, we cannot accept submissions that do not follow its basic structure.
EPIC Adventure Series
Note that QLI will not be publishing materials in the alternate post-1116 setting used by GURPS Traveller. However, it should be possible to make a "late golden age" scenario sufficiently flexible to be used in that setting.
Guns & Gear Series
Military Vehicles
Defensive and Survival Equipment
Game Aides Series The Game Aides (sic) series is intended to provide the referee with a quick source of game data for those moments when the Travellers wander off the expected path, or to flesh out a minor encounter into something more detailed.
