If your example character has been so done, I'm afraid he lacks one attribute point: 3 x 4 (str, agl, end, chr) + 4 x 2 (int, soc) = 20, and free purchase point is 21 points...

The career? not that I can tell.
Could then I take it for another specialty (I had Structural Engineering in my mind, as it would specialize more in precision machinery than in transportation/flight)?

I have had players argue that it should fall under Gunnery (exotic), Leadership (Scots), Crime...
Music should be a skill. Bagpipe a specialty within it. Call Int based.
I see your players didn't like the pipes too much...

I didn't want to use it as a skill, only as some colour. I leave the character as it is, then.

I don't have those. Is it acceptable to post them? Or would that much violate copyright?

Ok, Done.

About inventions/ressearch, how to handle the dice rolling?

My first targets are:
  • Ether knowledge up to 5 with Science (electricity) dice
  • Power production to 8 with mechanics (steam) dice
  • Precision machinery to 7 with Structural Engineering dice

I think two whole pages would probably be too much to post, but I can probably paraphrase it much shorter. Will do later this afternoon.

already did, essentially. Post # is all default skill formulae. All 8 default skills.

yes. under. Bit of a house rule that, but it makes it closer to combat rolls.
Combat system uses shots fired for skill or less

So first you get your default skills.

THEN you get your career skills?

Yep.

And, unless the specialization is already chosen by the career, you then assign the specialty within each of the following:
  • Close Combat
  • Trimsman
  • Crime
  • Marksmanship
  • Mechanics
  • Wilderness Travel
  • Engineering
  • Science
  • Gunnery
  • Riding
  • Piloting

The next step is Science!

If a scientist, you then will generate your knowledge bases, and if an inventor in either career, your inventions.

Figured stats:
Unconscious Wound Threshold: (Str + End) / 2 (round down)
Dying Wound Threshold: (Str+End)
Weight: 100+ (20 * Str) pounds
Cash:
Soc 6 = 3d * 100
Soc 5 = 2d * 100
Soc 4 = 2d * 50 (this is a penciled in correction by me)
Soc 3 = 2d * 50
Soc 2 = 2d * 10
Soc 1 = 2d * 1
Free stuff: not in rules, but...
  • Inventors: Prototype of each invention patented
  • Military (active or not): 2 issues of uniform, officers get sword. counts as one of the outfits in clothing. One red*, one option**. Can draw additional uniforms also at 2:1 for clothing allowance.
  • Clothing: Soc total outfits, including jacket, waistcoat, shirt, trews, socks. Half as many "accessories" - hats, canes, purses. (may have more "back home" if soc 3+; may leave some of the freebies at home, too. All are suitable for soc, but none are fancy.)

* Note that the standard uniform is red coat only for MOST regiments. Some wear blue, and at least one wears black.
** Some regiments in this era have a khaki uniform for the field. A few have alternate pattern parade uniforms, such as some scots regiments (Kilts and short jackets) and most guards and fashionable units. Fashionable units also have officer mess uniforms, which are not taken at 1:1. A fine dressed officer can go through several outfits.

If I do the math right, it should have an envelope of 60x950 feet. (about 3.1M cf)
I see you mixted the rules in core book and Cloudships & Gunboats (I've founs my old copy), as the accomodation and armor rules are for the latter...

Am I right in this?

If so (and assuming I should/can redesign it), should I merge both too (as making it according C&G and adding the ether part)?

Again, if so, my guess is that payload is only 80% of nominal weight (displacement?), as it needs to reach very high alttitude to engage the ether propeller...
